Lejla and Enes
When Enes felt ready to propose to Lejla he took her on a hike to the top of the Grampians and got down on one knee when the view felt just right.
When you hear a proposal story like that, you know you’ve got an active couple on your hands which probably means their wedding will be high-energy too. Once these guys appointed us as their wedding videographers and told us of their plans for a traditional Macedonian wedding, we knew for sure that we’d have to eat our weet-bix.
Macedonian weddings in general are extravagant, robust celebrations full of dancing, food and family and steeped in centuries-old traditions. They can also be something of an endurance test with the festivities often lasting days! Lejla and Enes opted for just one day but a robust day it still was.
Macedonian culture is rich with folk songs and dances specific to weddings. One such example is the ‘Horo’, similar to the Jewish Hora, this involves guests linking arms and dancing together in a circle. This, as well as other songs and dances, are performed throughout the wedding celebrations.
As well as enjoying a beautiful, heartfelt event, Melbourne put on an absolute blinder. Blue skies and perfect temperatures just added to the already wonderful mood of the couple and their guests.
As wedding videographers we were certainly kept on our toes but the sense of family and warmth and acceptance was really beautiful to witness too.
čestitki Lejla and Enes! Thank you for having us along to capture your wedding. Such a memorable day for us.
